Not surprising nearly 80% of brides responded advising that wedding photography is one of the most important aspects of their wedding where almost perfection is desired. Shockingly more than half of brides who responded to the survey advised that they only anticipate to spend between $1000 – $2500 total on their wedding photography.
We all know how much the quality of wedding photography has accelerated in the last decade except brides. These days a lot more time and post production goes into the finished product of a wedding album however it seems that brides still want that same quality and the same amount of time spent however are not willing to cough up the dough. Further to this nearly half of brides who took part in the survey advised that they would be interested in flying in a photographer.
We spoke to Gary and Leigh from Mills Photography in order to obtain a photographer's perspective on these surpassing findings.
It is encouraging to note that brides realise how important their wedding images are. These images have become more of an art form, capturing not just the couples wedding day but also some of their unique personalities. Don't like to use an overdone cliche but once the music has stopped, the champagne and cake have been consumedand the last petal from the bride’s bouquet has wilted, only two things remain: the couples binding love and photographic reminders of their special day. Alot of brides are flying photographers both interstate and overseas. They see something very creative, fresh, different to what their friends have had, maybe an image that they really like and can picture themselves in. For this they are prepared to go the extra mile, so to speak. Often when couples see their images for the first time they get really emotional... which just goes to show - "great photography is not expensive ... It's priceless" |
